SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team returns home for a matchup against the Trinity Tigers at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 7, at the McDermott Center.

This will be the final game before the Cardinals take a week off for final exams and begin Southland Conference play the following week.

"We're excited to play at home Saturday night and to welcome Trinity and its legendary coach, Pat Cunningham, to campus," Cardinals' coach Carson Cunningham said. "The fellas have been working hard in practice and in preparing for finals. I know they're excited to have a home game. We hope you'll come out Saturday night."

SERIES HISTORY
The Cardinals are 7-0 all-time against the Tigers.

THREE-STON WILLIS
Freshman guard Keaston Willis has been lighting it up over the last couple of weeks, scoring in double figures in five of the last six games and drilling 15 three-pointers during that stretch. He's hit four threes on three separate occasions this season.

DANGEROUS DWIGHT
Sophomore guard Dwight Murray Jr. has been the most efficient scorer for the Cardinals this season, shooting 48.2 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent from three and 91.7 percent from the free-throw line.

VERSATILE VINCENT
Freshman forward Vincent Miszkiewicz has been a crucial part of almost every aspect of the game for UIW. He leads the team in rebounds (8.0), blocks (1.0) and field goal percentage (52.2).

LOCKING DOWN THE PERIMETER
The Cardinals continue to close out at the perimeter well, limiting opponents to just 33.5 percent from beyond the arc this season.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
  • The Tigers are 1-4 entering Saturday's matchup, coming off a close 72-70 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor last week.
  • Trinity plays a team game with an incredibly balanced offensive attack - the Tigers have had a different player lead them in scoring in each of the five games they've played this season.
  • The Tigers play an up-tempo brand of basketball, averaging 77.6 points per game, despite shooting just 42.1 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent from three.
  • Like UIW, Trinity is an extremely young team - 11 of the 14 players on its roster are freshmen or sophomores.
  • Sophomore guard A.J. Clark is the key distributor of the ball for Trinity, averaging four assists per game to go along with his 7.4 points per contest.
  • Sophomore guard Jordan Lippman currently leads the team in scoring with 10.4 points per game, adding 3.8 rebounds, one assist and one steal per contest, as well.
