SAN ANTONIO -- In their final home meet in the 2018-19 schedule, the University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to host the University of North Texas (women only) and Texas Christian University on Saturday.
Senior recognition will begin at 10:45 a.m. (CT) at the Ann Barshop Natatorium, followed by the meet's slated start time of 11 a.m. (CT).
SLATING THE CARDINALS
The UIW squads have been putting in work this season, pushing each other to reestablish themselves as threats in the CCSA conference and beyond. Hector Ruvalcaba Cruz, Cassandra Phillips, Mariana Ruvalcaba Cruz, Beau Fusilier and Leonardo Sanchez have paved the way this season, and are hungry to compete against UNT and TCU.

UIW SENIORS
Daniel Carrera | Backstroke | Mathematics
Carrera is originally from Monterrey, Mexico, but grew up in San Antonio where his passion for swimming began. He has been a vital part of the UIW team culture, always working hard to improve every day. Daniel is a sprint backstroker, competing in the 100 and 200 Backstroke.
Vladyslav Chumak | Backstroke/Freestyle | Communication Arts
Chumak hails from Ukraine, and came to UIW as a strong force for distance and mid events, competing in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 200 Backstroke. He brings hard work and a positive work ethic to the pool, pushing his teammates to embrace the grind, while having fun.
Lexie Farmer | Breaststroke | Masters in Business
The Boerne, Texas native came to UIW as a breaststroker, where she has thrived in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, also contributing her talents in relays for the Cardinals. Farmer is a sprinter who works with her teammates to push them to their full potential. She describes her team as fun, disciplined and dynamic, and she always goes the extra mile to reach her goals.
Brandon Ford | Freestyle | Accounting
Ford was born and raised in San Antonio, and is a proud member of the UIW team, competing in Freestyle events. His hard work in and out of the pool has added to the self-motivated culture of the squad.
Beau Fusilier | Freestyle/Individual Medley | Rehabilitative Science
A native of Georgetown, Texas, Fusilier came to UIW hungry for wins. From leading off the 800 relay to being a strong force in the UIW's men winning the CCSA Championships in 2018, Beau is a natural leader who wants to swim fast and push his teammates.
Courtney Gay | Diving | Athletic Training
Gay is this year's only senior diver this year, coming to UIW from Houston, Texas. Under the coaching of Tommy Law, 2018 CCSA Coach of the Year, Gay attributes her success to her strong work ethic and focus toward detail. She has gotten practical experience in athletic training through assisting during UIW home games with the Athletic Department.
Aaron Moran | Backstroke/Individual Medley | Mathematics/Computer Information Systems
Moran came to UIW with a natural leader work ethic, and was the epitome of hard work paying off. Not only excelling in school but in the pool, Moran consistently posted his best times of the season at the perfect peak time. Originally from Helotes, Texas, Aaron swims with pride.
Roberto Pinedo | Butterfly/Freestyle | Rehabilitative Science
The El Paso, Texas native holds his teammates and himself to a high standard, and views UIW as a family that has pushed him to find success. Pinedo competes in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly and 200 Butterfly for the Cardinals.
Carter Wallace | Freestyle/Butterfly | Kinesiology
Originally from West Columbia, Texas, Wallace hopes to be a physical therapist after graduation, using all the knowledge he has gained from being an athlete. Wallace transferred to UIW from the University of Missouri, where he was on the team that finished eighth overall at the NCAA Championships. Wallace consistently goes the extra mile to push through and continue improving on his abilities.
