The Incarnate Word Men's Swimming and Diving Team concluded Day 3 of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming & Diving Championship on Friday. The Cardinals sit in 9th place in team competition with 282.5 points.
Five Incarnate Word swimmers scored team points, starting with freshman
Ahmed Tork, who won the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly Consolation Final.
Tork's qualifying time of 47.73 seconds earlier in the day was 0.20 seconds short of sending him to the finals, but that didn't stop the newcomer from showing out in the consolation finals. He bested his qualifying time by nearly a full second, finishing in 46.76 seconds. His time was by far the best in the consolation final and would have given him a fifth-place finish in the Championship Final had he qualified.
Tristan Clark also posted a victory in a consolation final, winning that heat of the Men's 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 48.57 seconds. Like Tork, his time also would have positioned him ahead of others in the Championship Finals, as he would have finished 8th in the event.
Logan Graham also swam in the backstroke consolation final, his time of 49.64 seconds putting him in seventh in the heat.
Seth Lackey earned a point after posting a 4:01.03 in the Men's 400 Yard Individual Medley Consolation Final and later in the meet, Yassen El Sherrif was a scorer for Incarnate Word, taking fifth in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke Consolation Final with a time of 54.87.
Incarnate Word returns for the last day of the MSPF Swimming and Diving Conference Championships tomorrow, February 28th.
