SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team is set to face off against San Antonio's professional soccer team, San Antonio FC, on Feb. 11 at Toyota Field.
The matchup will be part of the Cardinals' spring season, and for SAFC, will serve as a preseason game as the squad gears up for its 2017 season starting March 26.
The game will be closed to the public, but UIW Head Coach
Vince Martinez is excited about this opportunity.
"This is a great opportunity for our guys," Martinez said. "Facing a professional soccer team like San Antonio FC will help prepare us for the 2017 season and give our guys a chance to see what it's like to play in the professional ranks."
The Cardinals ended the 2016 season with a 4-9-4 overall record and a 2-5-3 mark in Western Athletic Conference action, finishing ninth in the league.
In their inaugural campaign, San Antonio FC went 10-12-9, including 7-4-4 at Toyota Field.
