ARLINGTON, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team closed the weekend with a 4-1 loss to New Mexico State at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington on Saturday.

The Cardinals (2-5) were coming off a 4-0 loss against the host school, UT Arlington on Friday, and couldn't overcome the Aggies on Saturday.

In doubles, Sebastian Mortier and Caleb Dyer were leading 5-2 in the #1 position, but the Cardinals dropped the #2 and #3 matches before Mortier and Dyer could finish with the victory. With the Aggies taking the doubles point, the Cardinals faced a tough road to a victory, needing four wins in singles.

It started off well for UIW, as Joey Vatanadilok defeated Stijn de Haan in the #3 position, 6-3, 6-4. But after Vatanadilok's win, the Aggies took the next three matches at #1, #6 and #2 to wrap up the match.

The Cardinals are back home for a five-match home stand. It starts with a pair of matches against St. Mary's on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Trinity on Saturday at 3 p.m.
