Volleyball Swept by Islanders

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team was unable to slow down the attack of Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Cardinals fell to the Islanders in the Dugan Wellness Center 25-17, 25-22, 25-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UIW trailed during the first but was able to even the score 14-14. Brittany Gilpin got the Islander attack going for a six point streak to pressure the Cardinals into a brief timeout, and take advantage of the set 22-16. UIW was only able to muster one point after regaining its composure. An attack error on the Cardinals and two kills by Madison Green helped the Islanders to an opening set win.

Sarea Alexander registered two kills to get the Cardinals out in front at the beginning of the second. Each team had its share at the lead, but the turning point occurred when A&M Corpus Christi went on a five point run to cause UIW to trail 12-6.
