SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team outlasted Abilene Christian University for a four set win in the McDermott Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals registered 15 kills and four errors for a .314 attacking percentage. The squad was much more efficient than the visiting team who mustered nine kills and six errors. UIW capitalized on errors made by Abilene Christian to take set one 25-21.
Set two started off in favor of the Wildcats until
Sarea Alexander got the Cardinal attack going for four points to make up the deficit. Each team had their chance at the lead, but UIW came out on top 25-22.
Not wanting the match to end in three sets, Abilene Christian came out for the third in full force. The team's 13 kills were enough to beat UIW 25-20 and keep the match alive.
The Cardinals led through much of the fourth until the Wildcats evened the score 14-14. The teams battled closely, but it was UIW who ended the match with a final 25-22 set win.
