The UIW men's basketball team returns Newcomer of the Year, Second Team All-Southland and Preseason First Team All-Southland player

Simi Socks is also back for the Cardinals as they enter their first season of full NCAA Division I status and are immediately eligible for postseason play.
The men open the 2017-18 season at home against three Division III opponents, beginning with Southwestern at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10.
The UIW women's basketball team returns Southland Conference Freshman of the Year
Imani Robinson. The Cardinals added seven talented freshmen signees and a pair of preferred walk-ons in the offseason, and will gain the assistance of 6-2 center

Gabbi Bowie, who each redshirted last season.
The women kick off their 2017-18 campaign at 11 a.m. on Nov. 10 against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma State. The Cardinals home-opener will come on Nov. 15, as the squad welcomes regional foe Texas State for a 6 p.m. battle at the McDermott Center.
