NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team will play a three-game series at Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin this weekend at the SFA Softball Field.  They will play a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m. and a single game on Saturday at noon.

The Cardinals (9-31, 3-15) have been playing their best ball of the season over the last 10 games going 6-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.  Taylor Johnson (Schertz/Clemens HS) has led the offense all season long and she has a .374 batting average with 27 runs and 11 stolen bases.  Shelbi Swenson (Elgin/Elgin HS) has been the team's hottest hitter going 10-for-17 in her last six games.  She is hitting .313 overall with four homers and 14 batted in.  Brooke DuBois (Pearland/Pearland HS) leads the team with a .565 slugging percentage and has four homers in just 46 at bats.  Kristin Hebert (Humble/Atascocita HS) has been the top pitcher on the team with a 5-14 record and a 4.42 earned run average in 126.2 innings of work.

The Ladyjacks (15-26, 7-10) are fighting for the final playoff spot in the Southland Conference.  On offense they are led by Brittany Lewis and Taylor Fraccastoro.  Lewis is hitting .341 with eight doubles, eight home runs and 32 driven in.  Faccastoro leads the team with nine home runs and has 27 RBI's.  Callee Guffey is the leading pitcher on the squad with an 8-11 record and a 3.37 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 118.1 innings.

This will be the first ever meeting between the Cardinals and Ladyjacks in softball.
