Women's Tennis Tripped Up by MSU

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Midwestern State University on Friday afternoon at the Mabry Tennis Center, 5-2.  (Results)

The Mustangs led from the outset as they won the #2 and #3 doubles matches to earn the first point.  The UIW tandem of Rachel Sadiq and Sarah Savedra were winning their match at #1 doubles against Taylor Coffman and Kayla Casey, 7-3 before it was called.

Sadiq continued her strong play at #1 singles.  She defeated Madeline Schorlemmer in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.  The Mustangs won the next four singles matches with only the #2 match sent to three sets.  Coffman defeated Matea Zemunik 5-7, 6-4, 6-0.  Antea Dedic earned the second point of the match for the Cardinals with her 6-1, 6-2 win at #6 singles.

The Cardinals do not play again until next Friday when they travel to UT-Pan American for a 1 p.m. start.
