SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will play their final game of November on Monday at 6 p.m. against Howard Payne University at the McDermott Convocation Center.
The Cardinals (2-1) won each of their first two home games this year by at least 19 points. Overall, the team is averaging 62.3 points per game while allowing 51.3 points per game. Senior guard
Aricka Adams (Round Rock/Round Rock HS) is currently the only player on the team averaging in double figures with 12.3 points per game. Four players on the team are averaging at least 5.0 rebounds per game led by
Yvonne Maosa's (Arlington/Mansfield HS) 6.3 per contest.
The Lady Jackets went 16-11 last year, but have started this season with a 1-2 record after losses to Prairie View A&M and Benedictine to start the season before knocking off Alverno College on Saturday. They have an unusual schedule that has them playing their first 13 games of the year away from home. They will play their first home game on January 7 against East Texas Baptist University. Howard Payne is led by senior guard Danyel Bradley who nearly had a triple-double against Benedictine. She led NCAA Division III in scoring last year with 22.3 points per game and was on three All-America teams.
The Cardinals will have a 10-day layoff following Monday's game before getting back on the court on December 3 at home against UT Rio Grande Valley.
