Box Score SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Visiting McNeese State University won the series finale, 10-0 at University of the Incarnate Word in Southland Conference softball action on Sunday at Cardinals Field.
After splitting the first two games of the series on Saturday, the Cowgirls (30-11, 13-4) ran away from the Cardinals (16-24, 4-8) in the finale game. They built up a 6-0 lead through five innings and then put the game away with four runs in the seventh inning. McNeese starting pitcher Jamie Allred shut down the UIW offense allowing just one hit and one walk in six innings while striking out eight to earn her 19
th win of the season.
Brooke DuBois (Pearland/Pearland HS) was handed the loss for the Cardinals. She allowed four hits, two runs and one walk while striking out two in 3.0 innings.
Alex Zepeda (Sinton/Sinton HS) and Lindsay Hood (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) had the only hits for UIW.
The Cowgirls pounded out 14 hits in the game, including home runs by Katie Roux and Kim Kennedy. Roux went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI's and a stolen base. Lauren Langner was also 3-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in.
The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Prairie View A&M.
