Box Score PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA – A late goal by Duquesne's Josh Ellis sent visiting University of the Incarnate Word home with a third one-goal loss on the young season. The Dukes (4-0) won the final match of the Duquesne Invitational, 1-0.
The Cardinals (1-3) were the more aggressive offensive team, but Dukes were able to take advantage of a free kick in the 84
th minute. Ellis latched onto a rebound off a direct kick from Colin Phillips and put it in the back of the net. Phillips was credited with the assist. Over the final six minutes of the game the Cardinals threatened to score with two shots and two corner kicks, but Duquesne goalkeeper Sam Frymier did enough to earn the shutout.
The Cardinals fired nine shots in each half and had six more shots than the Dukes. UIW also had nine shots on goal that were all saved by Frymier while
Jarred Kahan (Houston/Clear Brook HS) made four saves for the Cardinals in a losing effort.
Victor Pinal (Dallas/Skyline HS) was the most dangerous player on the field for UIW with six shots, including two on goal. Duquesne's Filip Velasevic led the home squad with five shots with two on goal.

James Nero (Charlotte, NC/Olympia HS) and
Joe Brown (Nottingham, Eng./The Becket School) were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Cardinals do not have another official game until September 21 when they travel to UM-Kansas City for a 7 p.m. kickoff. They are hosting their annual Alumni Game on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Benson Stadium.
