RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team head to the west coast this weekend to face unbeaten rivals University of California at Riverside at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

In a game that is expected to be one of the toughest of their season, the Cardinals (2-3-0) will have to deal with the high flying Highlanders (5-0-2). The Highlanders, who have started a second straight season undefeated, are led on offense by midfielder Aaron Long who has scored three goals on the season so far, a team high.

In their defense, goal keeper KC John was also announced as the Big West Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after making a total of 11 saves with a 0.90 goals against average last week.  He has yielded just four goals in the seven games of their season so far.

So with the Cardinals goals per game average at 1.60 and the Highlanders goals per game average at 1.57, an evenly matched contest is on the cards. Midfielders Alex Del La Garza (Mission/Sharyland HS), Vincent Bailey (Southport, Eng./Savio HS) and Victor Pinal (Dallas/Skyline HS) will lead the offense for the Cardinals, with 2 goals scored each this season.

Goalkeeper Jarred Kahan (Houston/) has played every minute of the season in goal for the Cardinals.  He has made 19 saves and has a 1.58 goals against average.
