Baseball Hosts A&M-Kingsville

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team will host Lone Star Conference rival Texas A&M-Kingsville this weekend in the final regular season series of the year.  The Cardinals and Javelinas will play a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sullivan Field.

The Cardinals (26-20, 12-12) have enjoyed playing at home in Sullivan Field this year.  They are currently 20-4 at home and have outscored the opposition 196-96.  They are averaging 8.16 runs per game at home.  UIW is 9-3 at home in the Lone Star Conference including two four-game sweeps.

The Cardinals are currently in sixth place in the conference.  Tarleton State leads with a 17-7 mark, but teams two through six are all within 2.0 games of each other so there could be a lot of movement in the standings this weekend.

Both the Cardinals and the Javelinas (31-15, 14-10) are already guaranteed a spot in the conference tournament, but will be playing for a better seed.  Last year the teams split a four game series in Kingsville.

The Cardinals have nine seniors who will be playing the final home games of their careers.
