GOLDEN, COLORADO – In a rematch of the 2011 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Playoffs from a year ago, #1 Fort Lewis College came from behind to knock off #10 University of the Incarnate Word, 2-1 on Friday in a neutral site game played on the campus of Colorado School of Mines. (

In the first half, the Cardinals (0-1) and the Skyhawks (1-0) matched up quite evenly. Each team fired three shots and was awarded three corner kicks. Even the fouls were nearly even with UIW committing 10 to Fort Lewis' nine. The two teams went into halftime tied 0-0.
In the second half, the Cardinals struck first in the 50
th minute. After Fort Lewis midfielder Samith Al-Basith was given a yellow card, junior Vincent Bailey (Southport, England/King George V) took advantage of the spot kick opportunity to score at the 49:45 mark.
The Skyhawks tied the game at 1-1 when Aaron Kloer scored an unassisted goal in the 64
th minute.
In the last 10 minutes of regulation, things started to get chippy between the two teams as three yellow cards were shown. Fort Lewis scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Yannis Becker took a pass from Kosta Kordistos and slotted it past UIW goalkeeper
Jarred Kahan (Houston/Clear Brook HS) to provide the margin of victory.
The Skyhawks outshot the Cardinals, 10-6 in the match and earned four more corner kicks.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday at Colorado Mines at 1:30 p.m.
