Four ASU runs in the first two innings led to a rough game for the Cardinals. With two runs in the sixth inning, UIW attempted to catch up late in the game but still fell to the Rambelles 7-2.
Whitney Waltrip started the game for the Cardinals and, after three innings, allowed six hits and five runs.
Briana Sanchez pitched the remainder of the game for UIW and allowed five hits and two runs. Waltrip was credited with the UIW loss.
While the Cardinals had eight hits against ASU, they were only able to get two of those hits in for runs. Both of those runs came in the sixth inning.
Both designated player
Lea Padilla and first baseman
Chelsea Muskopf drove runners in for those two runs and were credited with an RBI.
The Cardinals will play again on April 5 against West Texas A&M. The conference double header will begin at 5 p.m.
