2013 (Junior): Waltrip did a little bit of everything for the Cardinals appearing as a regular in the lineup and she was the team's #2 starting pitcher. She was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 9 after tossing 13.0 shutout innings and earning two wins against #23 Angelo State. She allowed a total of seven hits while striking out 13 in the series. She notched her only save of the year with a perfect inning of relief at St. Edward's. She tossed a 3-hit shutout against Colorado Christian. Her third and final shutout of the season came at Texas A&M-Kingsville when she allowed two hits and one walk while striking out four. She was 12-11 with a 4.35 ERA and struck out 92 in 138.1 innings. At the plate, she had nine multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games. She cracked her first home run of the year at St. Edward's on February 15. She was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs against Colorado Christian. She was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI's against Cameron. She smacked a pair of solo homers at Angelo State. She finished second on the team with 10 doubles and five homers. She was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.
2012 (Sophomore): Waltrip hit .280 and drove in 16 runs in 93 at bats. She went 11-14 with a 4.32 ERA while striking out 98 in the pitcher’s circle. She cracked her only home run of the year against Texas A&M-International on Feb. 16. She had two doubles and drove in five runs against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Apr. 17. She had 22 pitching starts and complete 15 of them. She had nine strikeouts and shutout A&M-International in the season opener on Feb. 2. She struck out a season high 11 batters without a walk against Trinity on Feb. 28. She allowed one earned run in a complete game win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Apr. 17. She was named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2011 (Freshman): Waltrip was named the Lone Star Conference South Division Co-Player and earned First Team honors as a utility player. She excelled as both a pitcher and an outfielder. She hit .381 with 10 doubles, eight home runs and 34 RBI’s while posting a 9-10 record and a 3.58 ERA in the circle. She led the team with 19 multi-hit games during the year. She had a 15-game streak in which she reached base safely in each game. She went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI’s against Our Lady of the Lake on Feb. 12. She went 6-for-8 with four RBI’s and two doubles in a three-game series with West Texas A&M. She followed that with three hits and five RBI’s in a doubleheader against UT-Permian Basin on Mar. 15. She was 3-for-3 with two RBI’s and a double against Tarleton State on Apr. 9. She went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, three RBI’s and two runs scored against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Apr. 30. She made 18 starts in the circle and tossed seven complete games, including one shutout that came against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Apr. 29. Her first win of the season came against Texas A&M-International when she allowed six hits, one unearned run and two walks while striking out six in a complete game. She tossed 4.0 shutout innings against St. Mary’s on Feb. 25.
High School: Waltrip played softball at Casa Robles High School. She was a four-time all-league and three-time All-Metro selection. She led the team to three conference titles and a Section title as a senior. She was named all-Scholar-Athlete three times.
Personal: Waltrip is the daughter of Barry and Dena Waltrip and is studying business with a minor in criminal justice. She has a sister, Shelby, who is also a member of the UIW softball team. She was born on April 29, 1992.
