JEWASKO NAMED NCBWA'S BEST

Kirk Jewasko added another award to his list of accomplishments on the eve of the 2011 NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship at St. Mary's University.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association released its 2011 All-South Central Regional teams today and University of the Incarnate Word starting pitcher Kirk Jewasko was a first teamer, as well as the Pitcher of the Year.

In addition to his NCBWA awards, Jewasko was also the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Year; was a Lone Star Conference First Team award-winner; named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team; and was named the LSC's All-Academic Player of the year.

Chase Larsson of Cameron University was named the region's Player of the Year as he hit .432 with 29 home runs and 84 runs driven in. Charlie Migl of St. Mary's was named the Regional Coach of the Year after leading the Rattlers to the Heartland Conference crown.
