After having to wait an extra day to play due to the weather in San Antonio, the Incarnate Word baseball team lost both games of Friday's doubleheader to Heartland Conference- and cross town-rival St. Mary's University, 3-2 and 8-2.
In game one, the Cardinals scored two runs in the first inning, but surrendered to three in the bottom of the first. STMU made the one-run last the rest of the game, surviving six UIW baserunners.
Ethan Lutz took the loss, pitching all six innings and striking out six Rattlers, dropping his record to 4-2 on the year.
In game two, St. Mary's took a 4-0 lead before UIW got on the board in the third inning, 4-2. Incarnate Word went through multiple pitchers, but Elroy Urbina took the loss, dropping his record to 3-2.
UIW is back in action on Tuesday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
