CARDINALS DOMINATE THREE-WAY

In their first meet of the year Incarnate Word's women's swimming team didn't set any records but what they did do was dominate a three-way meet at Trinity which included the University of New Orleans.

Senior Lesley Murray and junior Joy Turner were the Cardinals who put their names most often on the final results sheet.
Murray won two individual events—200-freestyle and 100-butterfly—and she swam the third leg of the winning 200-medley relay team.

Turner was third on the winning 400-medley and anchor on the 200-freestyle relay teams. She also finished second in the 50-freestyle and the 100-butterfly.

Sophomore Tamiris Nascimento won the 100-breast stroke event and swam fourth on the 400-medley relay team and leadoff on the 400-freestyle team, both winners.

Incarnate Word won 11 of the 13 women's swimming events.

Next up for the Cardinals is a three-way meet at the Barshop Natatorium on November 6. Trinity will come down Hildebrand Avenue for the event to be joined by Texas-Permian Basin.

The three-way at Trinity is the first step for UIW which is seeking to improve on its spring 2010 11th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
