The men's soccer team from Incarnate Word ended the 2009 regular season in Laredo on Sunday, defeating the Dustdevils 1-0.
Sophomore Jesus Cortez scored his third goal of the season in the 82nd minute from ten yards out, heading in a pass from Troy Thompson to put away Texas A&M International University.
The win gives UIW a 9-7-3 overall record and a 7-3 Heartland Conference finish.
The Cardinals must now wait to see if they are selected by the NCAA to receive a bid into the post-season, which is unlikely because of the team's seven losses, even if most of them are from teams in the Top 25.
