Alexander Named Southland Goalkeeper of the Week

SAN ANTONIO - A strong pair of games in net has earned University of the Incarnate Word goalie Hannah Alexander Southland Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Facing defending American Athletic Conference champion UTSA last Thursday, Alexander was credited with a season-high nine saves, including a stretch where she batted away seven Roadrunner shots in the opening 18 minutes.

She followed that up with a three-save shutout against Abilene Christian on Sunday, the fourth scoreless effort recorded by the Cardinal defense this season.

This is the first Player of the Week award for Alexander, who is in her second season with the UIW program. The Austin native enters the week averaging a Southland-best 4.22 saves per-game.

This marks the first SLC Player of the Week award for a Cardinal player since Sinead Duffy earned top offensive honors on Sept. 24, 2024. It's also the first conference Player of the Week honor for any Incarnate Word student-athlete during the 2026-27 school year.

UIW will begin conference play at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium on Thursday, hosting East Texas A&M at 7 p.m.
