AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas scored just 3 minutes, 38 seconds into the game and stayed in control the rest of the way, topping the University of the Incarnate Word 6-0 in women's soccer on Sunday.
The Longhorns pushed their lead to 3-0 at halftime, then put the game away for good by scoring twice in a 1:23 stretch within the first three minutes of the second half.
Sunday marked the first time UIW has been shut out since a 1-0 defeat to Northwestern State on Oct. 19 of last season.
After starting 3-0, UIW falls to 3-3 after arguably the toughest regular-season stretch in program history, as the Cardinals played
three straight games against teams from
Power 4 conferences, all on the road.
They return to the friendly confines of Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium Thursday with a 7 p.m. match against in-state foe Tarleton State.
