MUNICH -- Two incoming recruits for the University of the Incarnate Word artistic swimming program competed at the European Aquatics Junior Artistic Swimming Championships in Munich, Germany. The event marked one of three international championships this summer featuring current and future UIW athletes.
Incoming freshman Marta Huidobro and Ece Ungor represented their respective countries at the competition featuring over 30 nations taking place from June 30 to July 3.
Ungor, representing Turkey, competed in three events, including the women's solo free, duet free and duet technical. She finished with a score of 243.9261 in the women's solo free event, earning her a fourth-place finish. Ungor also placed fourth in the technical duet technical (261.5384) and duet free (255.8471).
Huidobro, representing Spain, competed in the team technical and acrobatic routine competition. Spain took home silver in the team technical competition with a score of 274.6542 before claiming another silver in the acrobatic team event with 205.1320 points.
Ungor will represent her country again in the European Aquatics Championships (all Senior categories) in Paris, France, from July 31 through Aug. 3. She will be joined by current Cardinal Marloes Steenbeek, who will represent the Netherlands.
