STANFORD, CA. – The University of the Incarnate Word artistic swimming program competed in the 2026 U.S. Collegiate Championships this weekend. The multi-day event was hosted by Stanford University at the Avery Aquatic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UIW claimed a national title in the solo event. Marloes Steenbeek claimed first place with a score of 236.4675, over 6.5 points above the second-place finisher. It was the sophomore's second consecutive national championship in the competition after also earning the crown in her freshman season. The Cardinals have taken home at least one national championship, either in an individual or team event, in three consecutive seasons.
• Steenbeek also claimed second place in Tech A, finishing less than 1.5 points out of first place. She also finished second in Tech A last year.
• In the duet, UIW's Maria Bofill and Fernanda Carmona Vasquez placed fourth with a score of 238.3617.
• In the trio, the Cardinals placed three teams in the top six spots. Steenbeek, Bofill and Xenia de la Puente finished third (224. 3450), Carmona Vasquez, Elizabeth Battista and Lauren Bell were fourth (223.1975) and Teresa Bellver, Aliya Perras and Katelin Echols claimed sixth (191.8892).
• In the team free event, UIW placed groups in fourth and fifth.
