FRISCO - The University of the Incarnate Word freshman men's tennis player Marcel Miralles was named the Men's Southland Conference (SLC) Tennis Player of the Week.  

This past weekend, the Cardinals traveled to Mississippi and won four matches. On Saturday, March 1st, UIW competed at Jackson State (JSU), winning 4-0 over Mississippi Valley State (MVSU) and 4-2 over JSU. On Sunday, March 2nd, Alcorn State hosted as the Cardinals swept the Braves 4-0 in both matches. Miralles was very successful, winning three singles matches and one doubles to help UIW improve to 6-3 on the season.  

Hailing from northeast Spain, the freshman has had a very successful first year. He is the younger brother of former Cardinal Arnau Miralles.  

NEXT UP: The Cardinals will host crosstown rival UTSA Friday, March 7th at 11 a.m.
