USAFA, Co. - 17 Cardinal Fencers traveled to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado to compete in the NCAA West Regional Qualifier and MPSF Conference Championships this past weekend.

Saturday March 8 - Regional Qualifier
In Men's Sabre, Cardinal Yassin Khodir had 10 victories and only 4 losses to finish 2nd to Stanford University's Jared Hamerstrom (11-3) and will be named as one of 24 athletes competing at Pennsylvania State University March 20-21 for the title of NCAA Men's Sabre Champion in Tuesday's Official NCAA Press Release of the National Championship qualifiers.

Sunday March 9 - Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference Championships
African Continental Champion and UIW's Khodir followed up his winning ways with the MPSF Conference Men's Individual Sabre Title winning 15-10 in the Final Match. On the Women's side UIW's Amelia Dungey was runner-up in an exciting back and forth Sabre Title Match losing 15-14 to Conference Rival Zara Fearns of UC-San Diego. In the Team Relay Events, the UIW Cardinals were edged out by host United States Air Force Academy to finish 3rd.
