SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word Women's Tennis team dropped two matches on their home courts against Texas State and Abilene Christian this past weekend. 

On Friday against Texas State, the team formed by Estefania Gonzalez and Amelie Montalvo won 6-3 at line 1 but unfortunately the team lost the doubles point by losing line 2 and 3. Despite their efforts, UIW fell 7-0 after dropping all remaining singles matches. 

On Sunday, the highlight of the day came from the singles court 2, where Lyric Bonilla won an exciting three-set battle. Junior Montalvo also delivered a tough performance, pushing her match to a second-set tiebreaker in a closely contested battle. Ultimately, the team came up short in a 6-1 loss. 

The Cardinals will be back in action Friday, February 14th against Prairie View A&M at home.
