CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team opened the fall 2026 season at the Jake Frederick Memorial Island Opener this weekend, where Amelie Montalvo finished as the team's top performer.

In open singles, Montalvo made it all the way to the finals of East Stage, Flight B division on Sunday, where she lost 6-2, 6-4 to Adriana Jimenez Casado of Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Prior to that, Montalvo advanced with a pair of straight-set victories. She beat Madeleine Joffe of UTRGV 6-3, 6-1 on Friday, then topped Marie Krymlova of TAMU-CC 7-5, 6-1 Saturday.
