HOUSTON, Texas -- Jana Ruzic was the lone representative for the University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team at the Rice Invitational over the weekend, where she went unbeaten in doubles while also earning a singles win.
Ruzic paired with Akair Tomoyose of UTSA to defeat Tomoyose's Roadrunner teammates Laia Tarazona Peyro and Giuliana Giardine 6-3.
In another match, Ruzic and Louisiana Tech's Nina Skoric beat Isabella Garza and Emma Norin of Sam Houston State 6-1.
Ruzic got a straight-sets singles win as well, topping Tulane's Diana Badalyan 7-5, 6-4.
She also went to three sets against Vladislava Razina of Houston (3-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Gabriela Felis da Silva of UTSAÂ (6-1, 6-4, 6-4), but lost both.
The Cardinals will return to action on their home course on Oct. 2-4, when they host the UIW UTR.
