BLANCO, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team competed at the Texas State Invitational last week for the team's first tournament of the spring semester. The team finished in eighth place after three rounds.
After round one the Cardinals were in great shape sitting at the top of the leaderboard. Victoria Bauer had a stellar first two rounds finishing round one at even and finishing the day top five with a +3 score through two rounds. Isabella Saenz also contributed to the team's hot start shooting even after playing the first 18. Rachel Seal and Kathryn Castro both shot sub-80 in round one.
UIW struggled in round two and carried those struggles into day two. Saenz finished the tournament in twelfth place after shooting a +4 in round three to bring her total to +13 for the tournament.
The Cardinals are back in action next month in Abilene, Texas for the West Texas Classic March 3-4.
