SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team is set to start Southland Conference play this week. The Cardinals will first take on the defending SLC champions, the McNeese Cowboys, at 6:30 p.m. CT on Monday. They will then travel to Louisiana to face the squad who ended their 2025-26 season the Nicholls Colonels at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

- Davion Bailey (20 ppg) and Tahj Staveskie (19.1 ppg) leading the Southland conference in scoring this season.

- Nicholls has started slow losing their first six games of the season, with a matchup with Creighton set before they welcome the Cardinals.
- Sincere Malone has been playing serious minutes leading the SLC with an average of 37.4 per game this year.
