SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team placed two student-athletes on the 2025 Southland Conference First Team All-Conference, as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning.
Sophomore setter Calissa Allison and senior outside/opposite hitter Kyla Malone were both named to the First Team after outstanding regular-season performances. The duo was pivotal to UIW's success, with each competing in all 104 sets during the regular season.
Allison earned First Team honors for the second straight season, continuing her role as one of the conference's premier two-way setters. She recorded 12 double-doubles in league play and led the Cardinals in assists and aces, while finishing second on the team in digs.
Across 16 conference matches, Allison totaled 510 assists, 209 digs, 99 points, 66 kills, 25 aces, and 15 blocks. In 58 conference sets, she averaged 8.8 assists, 3.6 digs, 1.7 points, 1.1 kills, 0.4 aces, and 0.3 blocks per set, further cementing her status as one of the top all-around setters in the Southland.
Malone powered UIW's offense throughout league play, leading the Cardinals with 220 points and 199 kills. She ranked sixth in the conference in kills and seventh in points, andremained one of the league's most durable and reliable players by appearing in every conference set.
In 16 league matches, Malone posted 220 points, 199 kills, 140 digs, 17 blocks, 12 assists, and 12 aces. Over 58 conference sets, she averaged 3.8 points, 3.6 kills, 2.4 digs, 0.3 blocks, 0.2 assists, and 0.2 aces per set, showcasing her steady two-way production as UIW's offensive leader.
Allison and Malone will now lead the Cardinals into the Southland Conference Tournament on Friday, November 21, when UIW takes on Lamar. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at The Field House in Commerce, Texas.
