SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team has announced its 2026-2027 schedule under fourth-year Head Coach Gabryel Ording. The Cardinals are set to play in 25 regular season matches, with 16 conference games. The team will open with a Garnet and Black scrimmage at the McDermott Center before the season officially begins.
The Cardinals will begin their non-conference slate making a trip down to Baton Rouge, La., taking on two Power Four opponents in Houston and LSU on Aug. 28 and 29.
UIW returns to San Antonio to face cross-town rivals, UTSA, on Sept. 3 on the Roadrunners home court before facing Tarleton State in the McDermott Center on Sep. 5. The Cardinals head back on the road to for the University of Iowa Tournament, where they will face Missouri State on Sept. 10 before taking on Southern Illinois and Big Ten opponent Iowa on Sept. 11.
The Cardinals will close the non-conference slate at the Baylor Tournament in Waco, taking on the host Bears on Sept. 16 before taking on UTEP on Sept. 17.
Ording's team will open league play back home in the McDermott Center against East Texas A&M on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. The Southland Conference schedule features 16 match ups with eight home games, and eight games on the road. The Cardinals conclude regular season play at home against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Nov. 14 at 11 a.m.
The eight-team Southland Conference Tournament is hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas from Nov. 20-22.
Last season, the Cardinals finished 17-13 overall with a 12-4 conference record. The historic season set the record for most conference wins and tied the record for most overall wins in the Division I era. Their fourth-place finish in the Southland Conference was the team's highest finish in the conference since joining in 2013.
