SAN ANTONIO – After posting back-to-back triple-doubles last week, Calissa Allison was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday morning. This marks Allison's second Player of the Week honor after earning Setter of the Week on Oct. 12. She is the only player in the conference this season to earn two different Player of the Week awards.
Allison recorded her third and fourth triple-doubles this week against McNeese and Nicholls, helping the Cardinals to an undefeated week in conference play. Against McNeese, the Pflugerville native dished out 32 assists, tied her season-high with 19 kills, and added 12 digs. She followed that performance against Lamar with another 19-kill outing, recording 21 assists and 12 digs for her second consecutive triple-double.
With 17 career triple-doubles, Allison is tied for ninth on the NCAA's all-time career triple-double list and is one of just three active players ranked in the top 20. Her four triple-doubles this season rank second nationally.
The junior is averaging 2.20 kills, 5.72 assists, and 2.89 digs per set this season, continuing to fill the stat sheet each match. Allison and the Cardinals begin a three-game road stretch Thursday, Oct. 29, against East Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m.
