COMMERCE, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team delivered a dominant sweep over Lamar University on Friday afternoon at the Field House, securing a spot in the Southland Conference semifinals for the second straight season — a first in program history.  

Set 1: UIW 25, LU 12 
UIW controlled the opening frame from the first serve, jumping out to a 10–4 lead and never relinquishing momentum. The Cardinals stretched the margin to as many as 12 points before closing out the set. Senior middle blocker Kade Thomas set the tone early, leading all players with seven kills in the opener. 

Set 2: UIW 25, LU 21 
The second set featured tighter play with six ties and two lead changes. UIW pulled ahead late behind a surge of offense from Kyla Malone, who hammered down eight kills in the frame to propel the Cardinals to a 2–0 match advantage. 

Set 3: UIW 25, LU 11 
UIW slammed the door with a commanding final set, using a decisive 10–0 scoring run to take control at 21–9. Malone closed the match with her seventh kill of the set, sending the Cardinals back to the semifinals. 

The Cardinals had two players finish in double figures: Malone with a match-high 19 kills, and Finley Evans with 10 kills. Setter Calissa Allison recorded her 22nd double-double of the season, posting match highs of 40 assists and 22 digs. Thomas added a dominant defensive performance, leading all players with five blocks. 

UIW will face the winner of tonight's match four. First serve for Saturday's semifinal is scheduled for 5 p.m.
