LEXINGTON, KY- The University of the Incarnate Word softball team had one student- athlete named to the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All- Region Teams. This is the first time in UIW's history a player has been awarded this NFCA award. Sophomore Victoria Altamirano was recognized to the NFCA Central All- Region Second Team for her outstanding player as an outfielder this season. She was also the only player from the Southland Conference awarded.
The SLC's Player of the Year has racked up numerous accolades this offseason. With this latest NFCA recognition, the sophomore from Los Fresnos was one of over 300 student- athletes awarded in the country. In the central region, Altamirano shares recognition with players from The University of Texas at Austin, Baylor University, and other schools in Power Five conferences.
As an awarded student- athlete, Altamirano now becomes eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All- American awards.
