SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word softball team will host Texas A&M- Commerce for another home Southland Conference series. The Cardinals are looking to enjoy a nice homestand after facing McNeese in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
UIW was off to its best start in history and have faced a few challenges these last two weekends. Facing preseason title favorites, the McNeese Cowgirls, the Cardinals were swept. In this week's midweek matchup against Texas Southern, UIW stayed even with both games being decided by one score.

In last year's series, the Lions took control finishing the three game matchups 2-1. UIW took the win in the second game of the series beating TAMU-C, 5-0.
The Cardinals currently have seven players that appeared in the game two win for UIW last season. Dariane Cram recorded two hits and two runs in her four at bats. Baylee Lemons also had two hits, while Ryleigh Mata and Aaliyah Garcia each recorded a hit and a run.
Pitcher Annie Gunther saw action in last year's series. Pitching the entire game for games one and three. She finished with six total strikeouts.
