THE LAST TIME THEY MET
TAMU-CC (5-2)
The last time the Cardinals and the Islanders faced off, TAMU-CC took home the win to shutout UIW's chances on making the Southland Conference Tournament. In this week's matchup, UIW looks for a chance at redeeming themselves.
Aaliyah Garcia and Baylee Lemons nabbed two hits each with Lemons also getting two RBIs off a double in the top of the fourth. Victoria Altamirano also had hit in the game. Annie Gunther was the only pitcher who faced TAMU-CC in the circle last year.
UIW has had a great season so far but looks to make a name for themselves in SLC play. After being ranked in the bottom three of preseason standings, UIW is currently placed at sixth. In the latest NCAA standings, the Cardinals were second in fielding and had pitcher Larissa Jacquez in the top five for earned strikeouts in seven innings. The future is bright for UIW.
