Women’s Tennis Ends Yet Another Historic Season

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis program completed yet another historic season under second-year head coach Tom Rees.

The Cardinals ended the 2022-23 season on a high note, finishing runner-up at the Southland Conference Tournament for the deepest playoff run in UIW history.

Brandelyn Fulgenzi led the team earning SLC Player of the Year and first-team All-SLC in doubles alongside freshman, Estefania Gonzalez. In the fall, Brandelyn teamed up with her sister, Lauren Fulgenzi, becoming ITA Texas Regional Doubles Champions, while sitting in the national rankings for doubles all season to achieve the first pro ranking points.

Off the courts, the team was awarded the Athletic Director's Team of the Year Award at the annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cardinal Red Carpet for achieving a 3.76 team GPA and completing nearly 200 hours of community service.
