SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word fencing team saw three student-athletes receive postseason awards after a long season of competition. Fencers Peter Flores, Rico Braun, and Carolina Geyer were named to the 2023 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Teams in each of their perspective events. In addition, Geyer and Braun were named to the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) West All-Region Team.  

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation awards student-athletes who have reached the MPSF championships to the first team. Those who reached the MPSF semifinals or shared third place were named to the second team. All three UIW student-athletes were placed on the second team.  

The USFCA selects prestigious fencers for the team based on results and the field size of each of the NCAA Regional Competitions. Braun was named to the Men's Epee First Team, as one of only two fencers. Geyer was chosen as a Women's Saber Honorable Mention.
