NATCHITOCHES, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Northwestern State University, 10-0, Sunday afternoon at Brown-Stroud Field to give the Cardinals their first SLC series loss of the season.
The Cardinals offense put up four hits in the game coming from four different players. UIW was held scoreless for the first time since opening weekend.
Northwestern State put up three runs on three RBI singles in the top of the first to take an early 3-0 lead.
After three scoreless innings, the Demons extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run and in the sixth driving in two runs on a wild pitch and an RBI single to bring the score to 6-0.
The Demons drove in two more runs in the seventh to bring the score to 8-0 and ended the game in the eighth scoring two runs on an RBI triple to bring the final score to 10-0.
