COLLEGE STATION – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to No. 15 Texas A&M on Tuesday night, 13-5, at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies got on the board first driving in four runs in the bottom of the first. An RBI single and a three-run double allowed the Aggies to take a 4-0 lead after one.
Texas A&M added four runs through the next three innings. First on a sacrifice fly to right field, followed by an RBI double in the third and a two-run home run in the fourth to bring the score to 8-0.
The Cardinals got on the board in the fifth, scoring four to cut the deficit to 8-4. A bases loaded walk drove in the first run for UIW. Rey Mendoza later picked up a two-run single, and Alec Carr capped off the inning with an RBI single to left field.
The Aggies extended their lead to 10-4 in the bottom of the sixth, scoring on a solo home run and an error.
Carr smashed his sixth home run of the year in the top of the eighth to bring the score to 10-5. Texas A&M responded later in the inning, driving in three runs to extend their lead to 13-5.
