SAN ANTONIO – Matt Crump was the hero of the night, delivering a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Cardinals to a 6-5 victory over Southern University at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. 

Hernan Yanez, Jimmy De Leon, and Joe Jimenez led the Cardinals in hits with two each. Crump led the team in RBIs with two, while Otto Stacey picked up the final four outs to earn the win. 

The Jaguars struck in the top of the first, scoring on a fielder's choice to bring the score to 1-0.  

Southern drove in two runs in the top of the third on a two-run single to extend the lead to 3-0.  

The Jaguars added to their lead in the fourth on a solo home run to bring the score to 4-0.  

The Cardinals drove in two in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to 4-2. A fielder's choice and a wild pitch allowed the Cardinals to get on the board.  

UIW added a run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Yanez to bring the score to 4-3.  

The Jaguars added an insurance run in the top of the ninth to extend their lead to 5-3. However, the Cardinals wouldn't go down without a fight, driving in three runs to win it in the ninth. De Leon picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice and Crump walked it off on a two-run single.
