THE LAST TIME THEY MET

  • These teams have only met once before at the Louisiana Classic in 2015.

  • UIW beat TSU 3-2.

TSU (9-10)

The Tigers are currently 9-10 on the season after going 1-4 at the highly competitive Longhorn Invitational this past weekend. In the most current Ohio Valley Conference standings TSU stands in third place, only behind the top two teams by one win.

Two juniors are currently leading the Tigers after Laila Armstrong and Anayah Baker- Rowell are batting above a .300 average. Combined the two have 39 hits including six doubles, two triples, and two home runs. Most impressively, Baker- Rowell has tallied up 13 RBIs in her hot start to the season.

The Tigers have relied on two pitchers throughout the season. Together they've notched 62 strikeouts and are averaging a 3.46 era. The TSU pitching staff is one with experience.

UIW (8-8)

Staying at .500 after the three-game series at Stepehen F. Austin, the Cardinals have found an offensive groove.

There's a new leader in the batting order for UIW this week. Kendall McGary has proven to be a dominant force on the Cardinals offensive end. Batting a .371 on the season, and a .500 this past weekend, McGary has accumulated 13 hits and 10 RBIs, which she also leads the team in. Giselle Villarreal has taken over the second highest batting percentage on the team with a .364. In her 55 at bats, Villarreal has recorded two doubles and four RBIs.

Over the weekend the UIW pitching staff was led by senior Natalie Myers. Myers had a near perfect two appearances, only allowing one hit in her 5.1 innings pitched. Though Annie Gunther is leading the staff with a 2.00 era. She's got a record of 4-1 in the six total appearances she's made. Gunther has only struck out seven but has held teams when the Cardinals needed it most.
