SAN ANTONIO – Alec Carr from the University of the Incarnate Word baseball team earned first-team status on the 2023 Southland Conference Baseball Preseason All-Conference Teams announced the league on Friday morning. Carr led the team in runs (45) and was tied for first place in home runs with eight last season.
 
This isn't his first Southland Conference accolade as he was selected to the SLC All-Conference First Team in May. Last season, he totaled 59 hits and eight doubles with 307 catches and 238 putouts for a .967 fielding percentage to go along with 25 double plays. Carr had a season-high three hits at the University of New Orleans, with four assists at Texas and 13 putouts against Northwestern State. In the Southland Conference Tournament, Carr tied the SLC record with three homers in one game.
