UTSA (2-8)
The Roadrunners are coming off a tough weekend at the 1-35 Tournament. Going 2-3 in tournament games, UTSA averaged eight runs a game in an all-out offensive stride. The Roadrunners are currently 2-8 on the season.
Leading that offense is junior Kat Ibarra. Ibarra is batting .432 through the last 10 games they've played. In her 37 at bats, she's hit five doubles and brought in three runners. Behind her is freshman outfielder, Lilly Hood. Hood has only had 33 at bats but is second on the team with a .364 average. She's had a home run, four doubles, and has accounted for eight RBI's.
UIW (5-5)
The Cardinals are currently .500 on the season and on track to have one of the best starts in years. Coming off a heated tournament at the Texas Classic, UIW has seen all different types of plays in their first ten games. Going 2-3, like UTSA, this past weekend, the Cardinals are ready for another tough week.
Offensively, UIW is being led by junior catcher Avalon Sanchez. Batting a .368 in the eight games she's played, Sanchez has been on a roll. In her total seven hits she's had two doubles and three RBI's. Not only has Sanchez been working offensively but the Cardinal defense could not move without her. Catching wise she's put out 26 batters and tallied up four assists.
UIW has had many change ups in the circle. Aaliyah Garcia has pitched eight games for the Cardinals and has collected 16 strikeouts. In total Garcia has made eight appearances, the most on the UIW team. Madison Floyd is sitting with a 3.71 era and has logged 14 strikeouts for the year. The senior had a great showing at the Cardinal Classic and is looking to find her rhythm yet again.
