SAN ANTONIO – Head Coach Ryan Shotzberger announced the 2023 University of the Incarnate Word Baseball Schedule on Friday morning.
 
"I'm excited for this upcoming season," said Shotzberger. "We've put together a competitive schedule with 26 home games, road games against two teams that were in Ohama last year, along with three games at the Kleberg Classic at Whataburger Field."
 
The Cardinals open the season at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for a three-game series Feb. 17-19.
 
UIW then hosts Tarleton on Feb. 21 before heading to the Kleberg Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi. The Cardinals will see an early glimpse of the Islanders while facing Utah and Houston.
 
The team will head back to South Texas to face Texas State and UTSA, then host a three-game series against the University of Louisiana Monroe March 3-5.
 
A mid-week matchup in College Station against Texas A&M then the Cardinals host Southern University March 10-12 before hitting the road against Prairie View A&M, Tarleton, and Texas.
 
"I look forward to watching our guys compete," Shotzberger added. "This schedule has teams from the SEC, Big 12, PAC-12, American, Conference USA, Sun Belt, WAC, SWAC, and the Ohio Valley to go along with a competitive Southland Conference schedule. We look forward to seeing all the Cardinal fans this spring!"
 
Southland Conference play begins with Houston Christian University at Sullivan Field on March 24-26. UIW will host three more SLC series against Lamar, McNeese, and New Orleans before the SLC Tournament begins on May 24 in Lake Charles, LA.
