UIW Cross-Country Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's cross-country teams were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team. Freshman Joy Gill was one of 171 student-athletes from 88 different schools to be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.

The UIW men's cross-country team and Southland Conference Champions, qualified with a 3.14 team GPA. Alexandre Fetizon led the way with a 4.0 in mechanical engineering, while Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year, Griffin Neal added a 3.59 GPA in business administration.

The women's cross-country team posted an impressive 3.39 team GPA to earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor. Andrea Acuna, the Southland Conference All-Academic second-team honoree finished with a 3.39 GPA in psychology.

As one the of the top 25 finishers at the NCAA Regional Championships, Gill qualified for All-Academic Athlete status to go along with her Southland Conference Runner of the Year and Freshman of the Year titles.
